Policy
Enrollment Policy
GCDS is committed to providing equal access to education for all children in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and applicable state and federal laws. Enrollment decisions are made without discrimination on the basis of disability. Children with disabilities are welcomed and considered for enrollment based on the school’s ability to meet their needs through reasonable accommodations and support services.

The school works collaboratively with families to understand each child’s strengths and needs. Reasonable accommodations and modifications will be provided when necessary to ensure children with disabilities have equal opportunities to participate in and benefit from the school’s programs, provided such accommodations do not fundamentally alter the nature of the program or pose an undue burden to the school.

Ongoing Support and Review
Once enrolled, children with disabilities will not be excluded, denied services, or treated differently solely because of their disability. The school will engage in ongoing communication with families to review accommodations and supports, making adjustments as appropriate to promote the child’s safety, development, and success.

Termination of Enrollment
Termination of a child’s enrollment will never be based solely on the presence of a disability. Enrollment may be terminated only after careful consideration, documentation, and collaboration with the family, and when one or more of the following conditions apply:

-
The school has made reasonable efforts and accommodations to support the child, and it has been determined that the child’s needs cannot be met without fundamentally altering the program or compromising the safety of the child or others.
-
The child’s continued enrollment presents a direct threat to the health or safety of the child, other children, or staff that cannot be mitigated through reasonable accommodations.
-
The family is unwilling to collaborate in developing or implementing reasonable accommodations necessary for the child’s participation.

Prior to termination, the school will engage in a documented, interactive process with the family to explore all reasonable options and provide appropriate notice.

Commitment to Children’s Rights
GCDS affirms its commitment to protecting the rights, dignity, and well-being of all children. All enrollment and termination decisions are guided by principles of equity, inclusion, and respect, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
